Description

Ezetimibe 10 mg is a lipid-lowering medicine used to reduce elevated cholesterol levels, particularly LDL (“bad”) cholesterol. It may be used alone or together with a statin when cholesterol levels are not adequately controlled by diet and statin therapy alone.

Uses

• Primary hypercholesterolaemia (high cholesterol)
• Familial hypercholesterolaemia
• Reduction of cardiovascular risk in certain patients with heart disease when used with statins
• Patients who cannot tolerate statins or require additional LDL reduction

How It Works

Ezetimibe works by reducing the absorption of cholesterol from the small intestine, thereby lowering the amount of cholesterol delivered to the liver and reducing blood cholesterol levels.

Dosage

• Recommended dose: 1 tablet (10 mg) once daily.
• Can be taken with or without food.
• Continue following a cholesterol-lowering diet during treatment.
